Day 10 Manali

To Manali Approx 95kms
Thank goodness I am feeling much better, and can appreciate the riding a bit more. We road through one town where we had to cross a river, the bridge started as a one lane bridge, then joining it was a modern two lane bridge, however there was a cow asleep on the two lane part reducing it to a one lane one anyway, funny as. We went over a hydro dam where we stopped just down the road, some of us went to take pictures of it but were told we were not allowed to. Better do as well are told we thought. From there through a tunnel approx 2kms long, corners and all, two lanes, bare rock surfaces, poorly light & of course zero ventilation, makes the Victoria Street tunnel a palace really, was cool though.
A few of the roads had slips some with rubble still over then some with rubber wheeled bulldozers clearing them, leaving a muddy surface. Overall a good ride.
What I have noticed as the further north we go there features of the people is changing dramatically to the more Chinese, Tibetan look. Saw our first bunch of Tibetan style monks today, walking up the road.
Made it to Manali, a tourist town, accommodation is good. I am at 95% health, had a great feed, thank god, & took our first tuk tuk ride from the town up to our hotel, approx 2kms up hill, cost 70 rupees, $1.30NZ. Best sleep so far this trip.
